We are already unfortunately living in a post-liberal world, the faster the right accepts that the faster they can actually conserve something instead ranting about small government conservatism. The existence of the state that is large and plays a role in everyday life is essentially non-negotiable at this point (much to ire of traditional conservatives), there must be a complete cleaning out of the unelected federal bureaucracy alongside building new public opinion-shaping institutions like Harvard, New York Times, Hollywood, etc. while at the same time minimizing the influence of the previous ones (ex. seizing the endowments of elite universities).

Legacy journalism serves as the paid cheerleading squad of the Democrats. Trumo used Twitter as a means of attacking the woke world but was besieged by the woke world and its abuse of the criminal justice and congressional investigatory systems. DeSantis not only knows how to win but how to govern and actually implement policies that roll back the woke agenda. on the issues of race, gender and climate. Nixon was a conservative but he also thought that recognition of China would normalize China and that detente with the USSR would accomplish thes same result.Reagan was a true conservative who the Democrats and the legacy media hated while he was in office.

I agree that the power to make the rules is key to dismantling leftist hegemony. But who enforces the new rules? Don’t we have to build a whole new enforcement structure? The unelected bureaucrats who harass us constantly now will not easily step aside. I despair of ever seeing actual accountability for those who have upheld the regime that is murdering our society. I know that they will not escape the judgement of God who hears the cries of those they have oppressed. But a message must be sent: If you abuse our constitutional rights, if you flaunt the just laws that allow our society to thrive, you will suffer in ways that are commensurate to the damages you have caused!!

The great Dennis Prager said it best. The left is a protection racket. They attack attack attack and bully like crazy, and allow it to become apparent that if you go along with them then you'll get a pass. At least up to a point.

Dreher is correct in saying that immigrants from Soviet dominated Europe were first to see the totalitarian nature of the woke ideologies. Americans are idealistically naive about their rights being impregnable to subversion. Many like the sounds made by the social justice progressives because they don’t realize that their fundamental system of Constitutional liberties is being dismantled.

Christopher,

Have you watched this speech by James Lindsay to the European Parliament? You should, if you haven't.

Quote from Chris! "But I fear that we may have already crossed into a new managerial public-private system, in which state and society are becoming one." We have. I just received a message from my health care provider that I have info missing on my profile. They need to know "what sex I was assigned at birth and what sex do I identify as". What happens when one doesn't answer?

As for what the tipping point was, I think it was definitely gay marriage. In particular, Obergefell being imposed, with no constitutional basis, against the will of high-turnout state referendums. Because of the overturn of referendums like Proposition 8, it is an utter joke when liberals talk about conservatives being enemies of democracy.

What was a mainstream position on maintaining the traditional definition of marriage 20 years ago is now considered right-wing extremist. The authoritarian cancel-culture tactics of the activists being rewarded by conservative compliance hugely emboldened the LGBT activists to keep on pushing with transgenderism.

When he was talking about the 'Slippery Slope Law', I sensed Chris Rufo was subtly and covertly referring to SSM in the video, but didn't want to say it out loud for fear of alienating gay conservatives.

I'd be interested to know if Chris can confirm this, but if he doesn't respond I'd also understand. It's a delicate issue and people often can't say what they truly believe due to the alliance with 'gay conservatives'.
